Eötvös Loránd University (ELTE) is a public research university in Hungary, located in Budapest, established in 1635. It is one of the largest and most prestigious public higher education institutions in Hungary. The university is named after one of its professors, the world-renowned physicist Loránd Eötvös.

ELTE is a popular university in Hungary for Vietnamese international students. Currently, around 30,000 students are enrolled in eight faculties and two separate institutes, with approximately 3,000 international students from over 100 countries.

Many scientists have studied and lived at Eötvös Loránd University (ELTE), including prominent figures such as:

  • Lénárd Fülöp – Nobel Prize in Physics (1905)
  • Albert Szent-Györgyi – Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine for the discovery of Vitamin C (1937)
  • Hevesy György – Nobel Prize in Chemistry (1943)
  • Békésy György – Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine (1961)
  • Harsányi János – Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences (1994)
  • Ferenc Krausz – Nobel Prize in Physics (2023)

ELTE, with the advantage of being Hungary's largest scientific institution, offers 118 doctoral programs across 17 doctoral schools. Additionally, the university provides 38 undergraduate programs, 96 master's programs, and over 50 foreign-language degree programs. The credits earned in these courses can be transferred to universities across Europe through the Bologna Process (an intergovernmental agreement among European countries to ensure the comparability of standards and quality in higher education).
