Workers who want to work in Hungary need to apply for a work permit and a long-term residence permit for the labor type, expressed by a labor D visa. There are 2 forms of visa application:
1. Traditional visa: workers need to apply for a Consular interview schedule. Once scheduled, they go directly to the Hungarian Embassy in Hanoi or the Hungarian Consulate in Ho Chi Minh City for an interview, fingerprinting and photo taking. Usually, after 70-90 days, the results will be announced.
- Interview in Vietnamese, with interpreter support.
2. Direct visa or E-visa: workers only need to sign a power of attorney in Vietnam.
- Previously, this power of attorney had to be signed at the Consulate, but now they only need to sign at home and scan and send a copy to Hungary. The application will be submitted directly online to the Enter Hungary system. Normally, it will take 10-50 days to receive the result. When receiving the decision to have a D work visa, the worker will go to the Consulate to have his/her fingerprints taken and can receive the visa right there (if the worker has prepared a plane ticket and 1 month travel insurance) or about 1 week later.
